The final version!
After many attempts at making the movie shorter the final version is complete! Multiple editing software platforms wouldn’t allow for a manual change of frame duration, only a selection between predetermined times. This meant that it looked ridiculous if pushed to the faster frame rate. Also, pieces couldn’t easily be cut out because it is one sequence so any cut would be extremely noticeable because of the change in background. I also tried to go through and delete every other frame in some sections to speed things up which only made it look jumpy. So in the end, we focused on the quality of the video just trying to make things smoother.
The final product looks excellent. The movie investigates the lack of personality and uniqueness in modern communication. It suggests that we should take a look at our own individuality in the way we interact and connect with people.
FINISHED FILMING!
We accomplished a huge milestone and finished filming today. I pulled a late night at weir house so we could get the footage. We had to cut out a piece of our idea because we realized our movie was going over time. It took ages selecting the photos of the miniatures and placing them one after another so that it made sense for the sequence. Now, whats left: editing the movie down, cutting the music down so it ends with the series and finishing touches! ohh….and some much needed sleep
p.s. I’ve just emailed Kimya Dawson to ask permission for the use of her song.
Today we got most of the filming for the miniature photos done in our makeshift studio. We also filmed the beginning sequence because it is the most difficult scene due to the backlighting (placement of the window) as well as the fact that hannah is in the shot and cannot move. Gonna have a long day tomorrow! Hopefully we will get all the final footage tomorrow…
This is the footage that we got today. Its unedited but gives a good idea of where the clip is going. The most difficult part was trying to have the miniature climb Hannah’s arm with the more zoomed out shot.
Today we took over a music room at Weir house with my butcher paper. We got most of the footage for the miniature Hannah (i hope). We had to plan out the route that she would go on and film specifically to it. Gonna be up at Weir bright and shiny tomorrow to film some more and start the final thing.
Today I got my butcher paper down to the Cumberland common room and we tried to make a makeshift studio that we could have the miniature shoot on. It turned out o.k. but we figured in the end that it would be better if it was shot at Weir house where the final would be filmed. We did however try a lot of things out that could be possibilities for the miniature to do in the final film. Also, we think the best idea would be for the final miniature photos to be done in a black costume with a bright color. The black would make the miniature easily distinguishable while the color will keep the focus of the viewer
